Tesla to Drive Electric Vehicle in India by June 2021?



CEO Elon Musk, very much active on twitter, announced Tesla’s entry in India earlier this year in October, To drive India’s Electric vehicle segments.

This year in October, Elon Musk, CEO Tesla, announced an Tesla’s India entry in 2021. And now, according to sources, the world’s most valued automobile corporation (by market cap) has sealed the plans to resume bookings next month and start delivery by the end of the first quarter of the financial year 2021-22. Earlier the company had opened bookings in 2016.

First car to be available in India will be Tesla best selling electric car till date Model 3 Sedan, which is announced by Elon Musk on Twitter in 2016. Expected Price is around INR 55-60 Lakh and bookings may open in India from next month.

In 2016, Some famous Indians like Mahesh Murthy, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma were among the first to book the car at about USD 1,000. There was a buzz then started after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Tesla plant.

Tesla Model 3, was first rolled out in 2017 and emerged as the world’s best selling electric car. It will be imported as a completely built unit with the capability of charging in 15 minutes.


According to the company’s Q3 2020 results, the Model Y and Model 3 accounted for 89% of the total Tesla vehicle sales in the third quarter of 2020.

Sources suggest that Tesla has achieved similar results with Model S and Model X and focus is to move Model 3 numbers and that’s how Indian plan may help company. Tesla reportedly has been exploring options to set up a plant in India.
